Small World Play

I am all about small world play. I love creating little scenes (like beaches, farms, zoos, etc.)

We made this laminated paper river. It was fun to make and the kids played with it too. It’s great for using your imagination and role playing and just playing pretend.

We started with blank paper. Painted the river and let it dry. We used sandpaper for our beach and some orange glitter for more sand or dirt. We used green felt to create grass and made a brown paper tree trunk with foam sticker leaves.

We collected grass and leaves for our other grassy area. And some blue glitter to make our river sparkle.

I have little toy rubber boats that link together to float downstream. And some plastic animals to roll in the leaves and jump over the river (or however they want to act out/role play)

I lamintaed the two pages we made. That way the kids can play on them.

I’d like to make another page or two so our river is even longer..

There’s a lot of different textures for the kids: rough sandpaper, soft felt, different sizes, shapes, and colors of leaves, and they got to use paint too.
